William Price, PE

Principal Structural Engineer

B.S. Civil Engineering

North Carolina State University

As a principal of Arcus, William oversees project design and development. Growing up spending hours upon hours playing with Lego’s, he knew by the age of 13 he wanted to attend North Carolina State University to become a structural engineer. After graduating, William has had the opportunity to work on a vast array of projects over the past 11 years. His project experience ranges from telecommunication towers, shopping centers, grocery stores, pharmaceutical projects, industrial projects, churches, dealerships, demolition projects and residences.

A memorable project for William was the decommissioning of the two 550’ concrete chimneys at the Sutton Steam Plant in Wilmington, NC. This required a rigorous analysis for the connection of a mast climber to the chimney. Four mast climbers were utilized in each quadrant of each chimney transporting a Brokk 90 used to demolish the chimney. The design also consisted of a platform to support the base of a single mast climber perched off the side of the chimney at 120’!

Outside of the office, William enjoys anything and everything outdoors. The majority of this time you can find him riding and racing motocross, cycling, sitting in a tree stand or in a duck blind. As one who enjoys the adrenaline of extreme sports, people find it interesting that his greatest fear is heights.

Zachary G Lyon, PE, SE

Managing Principal

Zac has over 20 years of progressive structural engineering experience distributed over design and contractor services. Zac became interested in engineering at a very early age drafting with his grandfather who was an NC State graduate and practicing Civil Engineer. Through the first half of his career Zac focused on commercial mid and low-rise structural design primarily in traditional Engineer of Record rolls. In more recent years, Zac has balanced his experience with an extensive array of contractor services including value engineering, construction sequencing, and historic preservation and shoring services. Zac is very active in the demolition industry and is an expert in the shoring that often accompanies the deconstruction and demolition industry.
A memorable design project for Zac was the historic preservation of the historic façade at “The Dillon” in the warehouse district of Raleigh North Carolina. For this project, Zac sequenced the surgical separation and demolition of the old Dillon Supply warehouse along with the design of a vast buttress style shoring system that allowed the historic façade to remain free standing until construction of a new building was in place. Zac has also played an active roll in numerous industrial and commercial demolition projects that include explosive and mechanical demolition felling techniques.
While off the clock Zac is an avid 4wd enthusiast who enjoys wrenching on vehicles just to break them again. Zac is also a self-proclaimed workaholic balancing life with good family time and extensive fun travel.
